Cardio alternitives (WARNING: HARD ASS WORKOUT)

Now, if distance isn't your style heres a fantastic alternative that, if anything, will work you harder then the average 2 mile run.  It's a workout I stumbled upon while browsing the Internet, and excitingly attempted instead of my nightly run.  It's called the Guerrilla workout, and believe me, its hard as balls.  For those who want to go right to the source just open the link below in your Internet browser.  For those that want to hear the workout, and my experience with it, please continue reading.  The workout consists of 3 parts as usual, warm up, exercize, and cool down.  The warm up and cool down are both a 4 minute, moderate paced jog.  The exercise is a on off 4 minute sprint. First sprint all out, remember the key to fast sprinting is stride length and stride intervals, for 20 seconds follow by a 10 second rest.Do this so that you sprint 8 times, cool down and stretch.  This workout is so difficult that I had to bump it up to a 20 second rest for my first night, since the 10 second rest was getting close to puke range.  This workout is best done mixed in with your weight routine, making sure not to workout your legs 2 days in a row to provide ample rest for those muscles.

(EDIT: Sitting here now, about 20 minutes after completing my workout, my head is still pounding.  Its a good feeling knowing the workout was a good one.  Just remember! Plenty of water of protien as well as good sleeping habits are the keys to healthy muscles.)

The Dr is in

I'm just your average health and fitness nut who has a blog.  What I plan for this blog is to post various fitness tips, tips for better health, and tips for improving your lifestyle.

To begin, I'm just going to say the most simple, and essential, part of being healthy, and that is proper diet and exercise.  The fact is being healthy is a lot of hard work, and theres no easy method to getting there.
A good fitness plan includes 3 major things; good nutrition, cardio exercise, and anaerobic exercise.  In other words, eat right, run and lift weights.  For todays inaugural post I'd like to direct your attention to an image that addresses the 2nd aspect of health, cardio. The image below is a fairly good cardio workout for beginners.  Simply start at the level thats good for you, or at the beginning if your not sure how fit you are, and follow it, doing the 3 days of cardio each week. This image however, does not include stretching, which is also key to protect your body and prevent harm to it.  Before each workout there should be at least 5-10 minutes of stretching, making sure to stretch the shoulders, calves, hips, back, and abs to prevent injury.  Stretch after the workout as well.
Also, a thing I've noticed (back when I was a beginner and not used to running) was that certain foods, mainly greasy and fatty ones, will ache in your stomach causing more misery then there needs to be.  Watch what you eat before hand and try to give yourselves a few hours to digest to avoid any stomach cramps or pain.

That's it for today, keep following and keep reading for more lifestyle and health tips and facts.
